Generic drugs will continue to account for the majority of prescription drug sales with a value of VND66.3trn (USD2.9bn) in 2020 and a projected value of VND73.3trn (USD3.2bn) in 2021, VND108.5trn (USD4.5bn) by 2025, and VND171.9trn (USD6.7bn) by 2030. This is a 10-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.0% in local currency terms and 9.0% in US dollar terms. By 2030, the value of the generic market will have risen to almost 63.1% of the total (up from 55.9% in 2020), with generic drugs also increasing their share of the prescription market (from 74.2% to 81.0%).
